This promo campaign for the ABC series 9-1-1 features in-camera effects created by FX WRX. These include slow motion water stunts, fire elements, and in-camera logo graphics. Stills for key art were also captured during the shoot.  

Cinematographer and technical director Christopher Webb and the team designed, built, and shot a flooding ship's cabin set for a live-action stunt performer. The set wall, with porthole window, was rigged to lower into an 850 gallon tank, as it rolled over upside down in the water. Several hundred gallons of additional water were dumped into the tank from above, as a performer's hand reached out, captured in slow motion. All of the action was followed with a motion control crane allowing the camera to descend and roll upside down in sync with the set while looking in through the front of the water tank. 

The engineering of this set-up allowed the team to easily reset and film multiple takes of the action. J&M Special Effects provided equipment and expertise to make this possible and safe for all. The team also created pyrotechnic effects to capture fire and water elements. Physical logo cutouts were mounted on glass and suspended over the water. Fire bursts were filmed through the logo art to capture the interplay of fire, light and water in slow motion as it illuminated each graphic.

All of these practical effects assets were combined with CGI and digital effects by Zoic Studios to bring the campaign to life.
